Summer Live Tours
By admin | June 30, 2009
Summer time is usually the off season for online poker, people enjoy their holidays outside their home and spend very little time playing poker. I hope to play a couple of live poker tours during this summer, as I get to play very few live tours and only observe our sponsored players in action. Well, I already played one live tour. It was a part of the spanish championship series with a €660 buy-in and about a 160 players.
Next weekend we host the 4th edition of the Marbella Classic which should be good fun. As always you can see how the LiiPoker players are doing in our live blog and live streaming. Read the rest of this entry »

Club poker tour
By admin | June 18, 2009
In May and June we have been traveling around to different poker clubs to play their tournaments and add a little extra to the prize pool. We started out in Denmark where we visited 4 clubs and a bar where they played poker on Thursdays. Jeppe and I visited 3 clubs together and later I visited the bar and one club by myself. Those live tours
By admin | April 27, 2009
In Spain there are several live tours sponsored by various poker sites. The buy-in vary from €100 to €1100 where some of them have finals with buy-ins up to €2500. Some are leagues or single tournaments done at a one casino and others are league played at various casinos in Spain. The structure is very different where some are turbo and some deep stack. In a couple of weeks there is also a super deep stack, a little too deep stacked I would say, especially when the buy-in is only €770.
We have had players play in various of these tournaments and I have also played a couple of them and the level of the organisation and also of the players have varied a lot. The sponsers of the Read the rest of this entry »

Poker fashion?
By admin | April 20, 2009
This post will not be very LiiPoker related, more a general observation or wondering. I was at a local casino yesterday because a friend had made it to the final table in a small tournament. I think they had expected more players, but the tournament hadn’t been advertised much so only 45 players participated and the level was very low. It ended with the last three players, who were also the best players on the final table, splitting the prize pool. €4600 for each. (congratz Ernesto)
At the same time a €100+€10 parallel tournament was played. Here there were several young guys participating, several was wearing sun glasses, several a sweat shirt with a hood, shirts with Read the rest of this entry »

Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey to the Marbella Classic
By admin | April 1, 2009

This story was of course not true, but just our contribution to the many April fools stories. I wish these two players were coming to play the Marbella Classic, but I think the chances are very slim.
Today on the 1st of April we have received information about that Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen are planning to participate in the remaining events of the LiiPoker Marbella Classic Poker League. This is great news and will hopefully attract more professional players to these events. The first event where you can see Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen in action starts on the 8th of May with a buy-in of €2
50 and the option of One re-buy or one add-on of €250, where the 1st prize is expected to pass €12.000.LiiPoker talked to Gus Hansen for a comment on his participation in the Marbella Classic. “I have basically always wanted to go to Costa Del Sol and find the added prizes are very attractive, because I plan to play the Irish Open next year. So basically if I win the league it will be free” and he continues “I am obviously also a big fan of Antonio Banderas and I know he is from Malaga, so I hope to meet him while I am there”
Jeppe Bech Sørensen received the news with mixed emotions. “It is of course great to have some of the world’s best poker players participate in the event, but it diminishes my chances of winning the league considerably and I really want to play the Irish Open next year”
We hope to get a comment from Phil Ivey tomorrow and we will send you an update you on this amazing news.

24 hours is a long time
By admin | April 1, 2009
Last week Jeppe did a 24 hour project along with Ernesto. 24 hours playing poker online. I was with them all the way as cameraman, chat administrator, got them drinks and food etc. It was a fun project but 24 hours awake is a long time and I was pretty busted at the end. I got two times 15 minutes power naps in during the night but that was all.
They both won money on the project but the loss the last hour was very big and you can really tell that you need concentration to play winning poker.
We have a couple of new languages coming up on LiiPoker.com within the next few weeks. This means that we will also begin to target these markets.
This weekend Jeppe will play the SPT in Sevilla and Santi wil play the CEP in Badajoz along with a JPizu, DopeAlonso and Sombra. So hopefully they will bring back some good results for LiiPoker.

Marbella Classic first event
By admin | March 9, 2009
This weekend was the first event of six in the Marbella Classic live tournaments. This was a first for us, as we have never done a big live event before. This event was a good start to gain experience and see what we can improve, how we can work better with the Casino and with 52cartas who was doing live coverage from the TV-table, interviews and blog.
The tournament had 81 participants. This is ok for a first, even though we had expected more players. With more time for preparations and the experience we have gained, we believe we will be able to fill up the next event, which has room for 120 players.
The low buy-in of €250 with the option of either one re-buy or one add-on, makes it accesible for many players, who usually cannot access big live tournaments. I think it is a very reasonable price for a three day event. Also considering that there is a €10.500 added prize pool for the whole league. I think the low price of the event was also reflected in the level of the poker play, as there were many unexperienced players present.
There was a small disruption of the tournament when some players started complaining about that the tournament went into hand-by-hand mode and the clock was not stopped when one table hand finished their hand. This also shows that many players are not aware of the tournament rules and start complaining based on what they think must be right.
There are small things that need ajustments for the next tournament and of course everything was not done perfectly for this tournament. These are things that together with the casino we will work out and try to create not just a good but a great tournament.

Our first live tournament: Marbella Classic
By admin | February 26, 2009
We are sponsoring our first live tournament. The Marbella Classic Poker League is a league consisting of 6 tournaments where there is an added prize pool of three tournament packages. 1 for the Irish Open 2010 and 2 for the Cirsa poker tour in South America.
We are very excited to be doing these events and hope to see lots of our online poker players at the tables. The buy-in of €250 with the option of one re-buy or add-on of €250 makes it accesible for players at the lower limits as well. So it is possible for the players who can usually not access these tournaments, to have the experince of playing a big live tournament. Read the rest of this entry »

More players, new filters and a new tournament
By admin | February 11, 2009
Finally we are ready to release new lobby filters. This is an option we have asked the developers for, for a while now and it will be released shortly. This gives you the oportunity to have the lobby show exactly the tables you are interested in playing. If you only want to see NL100 Hold’em short handed tables, then you just set the filter and you do not have to scroll through all the tables to find it. Enjoy!!!
Recently we have seen the number of players at the tables grow. About a 30% growth in traffic, giving you a lot more tables to choose from and sngs filling up faster.
We have added a new $1000+$50 MTT deep stack to our tournament program. This is of course only for the high rollers, but if you are one of them this tournament should be interesting for you. It is played at 03.30 GMT.

Welcome to LiiPoker 2009
By admin | January 14, 2009
I apologize for neglecting this blog. With christmas, family visits and plenty of work I have just kept post poning writing in the blog.
I want to start by following up on my prediction on our cash game traffic ranking. I was hoping we would jump to a 7th place in the ranking. Instead when we entered 2009 we were 10th and currently 11th. Why? Our traffic has grown, but there has been some changes in the market. Two sites have merged which have created the 7th biggest network, the Italian market has had a big influence on one network and a big skin was kicked out of a network and moved to the network with all the italians. Svenska Spel is now bigger than we are, but I believe it won’t be long before we switch places again. At the moment there are 4 sites fighting for 9th to 12th place in the rankings and I hope we will come out in front. Read the rest of this entry »
